There has been two years of a pandemic and even more of political turmoil. The deeper I dig, the more I realize that there are people who have plotted and planned far more than I can imagine to hurt others. My mother used to say that life is neither fair nor equal all at the same time. Embedded in that saying was the belief that, with patience, our time would come. We would be rewarded and justice would prevail. Oh, how I wish I had the hopeful outlook Anne Frank did when she said, “In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death." This rapid change has been too much for me at times but if I want something different for the world I must create more change to make it happen. Mahatma Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." There are things I can do to make a difference. We all have talents for a reason. It's time to take a deep breath, dig deep within and find the strength to make it happen. |
